Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6

Prenatal visits begin as soon as you are aware that you are growing your baby! During your 1 hour prenatal visits, I take my time to address every question and concern you may have. I spend quite a bit of time teaching nutrition as well as naturopathy care to prevent common pregnancy concerns. We discuss not only the physical development and well being of you and your baby, but also emotional and spiritual health as well. During pregnancy we will be reviewing what you and your baby will be experiencing during the labor and birth and how I can best support you. During each prenatal I will monitor both your vitals and that of your baby; ie by taking pulse, blood pressure, measurements, baby's heart rate, and sometimes blood work and urine samples. When medically necessary I recommend other tests.

I am a Certified Professional Midwife, licensed in Virginia so I will attend you in your home to monitor both you and your baby and help you labor as you birth your baby. Once your baby is born I will continue to monitor both you and your baby to ensure that you both transition well. I will do a thorough newborn exam and not leave until all is well and you are feeling confident. If there were a need for medical services at the hospital I would go with you and stay with you as your advocate throughout the birth process.
I remain on call to you during the six weeks of postpartum care. Within 24-48 hours after the birth I will return to your home for your first postpartum visit to check on both you and your baby. During this visit I will help with any concerns or issues you are having yourself or for your baby. I then return a week later to check again

I am a Certified Professional Midwife, licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of VA. I trained through the apprentice model and earned my CPM through the North American Registry of Midwives. I attend mothers who desire homebirth as well as help them navigate the early years of laying a sure foundation for a life time of health.
God has designed the human body and He knew exactly what to do to enable women to give birth to their children. Pregnancy and childbirth are a normal part of life for a woman. I count it a privilege and honor to be “with woman” during her pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum period. The vast majority of times, a woman just needs a little guidance, assistance, and encouragement from those around her.
As a board-certified Naturopathic doctor, I am first a teacher. I educate individual clients regarding nutrition, herbs, homeopathics, essential oils, nutritional supplements, or touch therapies and how they help the body create a state of homeostasis/health. A great tool is my microscope that we use to look at live blood in addition to looking at pH of saliva and urine. Because naturopathy is a holistic art, I approach each client as a unique creation with individual physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs. I believe each person is created in the image of God, and so each life is not only fearfully, but wonderfully made! There are 144,000 functions in the human body and it is designed, miraculously, if given optimal conditions, to heal itself. As a part of my naturopathic services, I am also trained in a touch therapy called The King Institute Method, or TKM®. This method has been found to be profoundly affective at bringing coherence to the bio-electro-magnetic system. For more information regarding The King Institute Method, go to www.kinginstitute.org
I also work as a monitrice (midwife-doula). In this role I am able to help those mothers that feel they need to birth in a hospital setting, but would like to hire me to attend them while they labor in the comfort of their own home before we transfer to the hospital.

Life Streams Eternal, PLLC began from my place as a mother; as I wanted to provide services to those who wanted a homebirth midwife and Traditional Naturopath to help care for their children in as natural a way a possible. I loved birthing my children in the comfort of my own home and decided it was my turn to assist the younger generation to do the same. In addition to being a homebirth midwife in Leesburg, I also serve to educate, through private consultations, both male and female clients regarding prevention, acute concerns, chronic projects, and maintaining a state of homeostasis. I understand that stresses of life, poor choices in our past, and the fact that we live in a toxic world, can all contribute to our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual degeneration. Goals include education, encouragement, support and partnering with/empowering the client to maintain changes that will affect him/her for the rest of their life. Furthermore, we work at these goals by getting to the foundations and not just viewing symptoms or obvious dysfunctions. As a midwife, I believe my role is first to teach, then to encourage, monitor, advise, and assist the mother during the childbearing year. It is a time in the parent’s lives when they need to be empowered to educate themselves concerning childbearing and take responsibility for the choices they make. I present information and then share any concerns and limitations I might have to help guide and support the couple during this season. My philosophy concerning location of birth is that babies begin their life in the home, gestate within the home, and when assisted by skilled attendants, it is most often the safest place for babies to be born. When a woman and baby remain healthy and low risk during pregnancy, the risks at birth remain very low, and the amount of medical intervention necessary is lower. “Planned home birth for low risk women in North America using certified professional midwives was associated with lower rates of medical intervention but similar intrapartum and neonatal mortality to that of low risk hospital births in the United States.” (See: Johnson, Kenneth C. And Betty-Anne Daviss. “Outcomes Of Planned Home Births With Certified Professional Midwives: Large Prospective Study In North America,” Bmj 2005;330:1416 (18 June). http://www.bmj.com/content/330/7505/1416
In fact, the latest research has confirmed the following: “among low-risk women, planned home births result in low rates of interventions without an increase in adverse outcomes for mothers and babies.” Journal of Midwifery & Women’s Health (JMWH), a landmark study** “Outcomes of Care for 16,924 Planned Home Births in the United States: The Midwives Alliance of North America Statistics Project, 2004 to 2009. Melissa Cheyney, PhD, CPM, LDM, Marit Bovbjerg, PhD, MS, Courtney Everson, MA, Wendy Gordon, MPH, CPM, LM, Darcy Hannibal, PhD, Saraswathi Vedam, CNM, MSN, RM This “confirms that among low-risk women, planned home births result in low rates of interventions without an increase in adverse outcomes for mothers and babies.” http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/jmwh.12172/full
